Inter will change their priorities for this summer’s transfer window after securing the arrival of Antonio Conte as head coach, according to Tuttosport.

The Nerazzurri had been planning to make a big investment in midfield if Luciano Spalletti remained at the club, in an attempt to find a dependable partner for Marcelo Brozovic.

However, Conte’s appointment means they will focus more on securing reinforcements in attack – where two strikers will likely start instead of one – and on the right wing.

Romelu Lukaku and Edin Dzeko remain strong candidates to fill the void up front while Federico Chiesa continues to be monitored for the right-hand side.

“But this doesn’t mean Inter will be looking to sign someone for free in midfield,” the Turin-based paper reported today, “unless they can reach an agreement with Real Madrid to bring Mateo Kovacic back on loan.”

Nicolo Barella, Lorenzo Pellegrini and Thomas Partey are three players Inter are monitoring closely in midfield, with the Roma player currently the easiest to sign.

Inter and Cagliari’s valuations of Barella remain quite a long way apart, with the Rossoblu asking for more than €40 million to part company with the 22-year-old.

Pellegrini has a €30 million release clause which can be paid in two blocks, while Thomas’ contract with Atletico Madrid contains a clause worth €50 million.

The Ghanaian international would like more game time and represents the most experienced option in terms of Champions League appearances.
