Matias Vecino will be aiming to guarantee his future as an Inter player when the midfielder faces his former club Empoli tomorrow night.

Inter must beat the Tuscan outfit to secure Champions League qualification for next season, having thrown away the chance to rubber-stamp a top four finish against Napoli last Sunday.

Vecino will hope he can score yet another decisive goal for the Nerazzurri after key strikes against Tottenham and Milan this season and Lazio this time last season.

“Securing Champions League football for next season would also guarantee Vecino’s future at Inter,” Tuttosport reported today.

“If they don’t ensure a top-four finish though the Uruguayan could be one of the most interesting players to leave the club this summer.

“Despite being poised to turn 28 in August the midfielder is still at the peak of his career, having made his debut in the Champions League this season, but nobody at Inter wants to say goodbye to the man who pops up to score when it matters most.

“Everyone is hoping he will add another key goal to his collection tomorrow.”
