In an exclusive interview with FCInter1908.it, legendary Inter full back Andreas Brehme has shared his views on the current Inter side whilst also reminiscing about his Nerazzurri past.

“Inter already has a good team, but you can always improve. I think there are few other steps required to return to the top again. They have to win more games at San Siro and I think this is one of the things that Inter must improve,” he began.

Asked about why he felt he was successful in his position he responded: “I think it is important in that position to be able to play with both feet. It’s something you can train and learn with practice. It is very important and Trap taught me so much in this respect.”

He was then asked if comparisons could be made to when he played to now.

“You can’t compare the football industry of my time and now. Today we live in a global world and almost every successful team has foreign investors.”

The German then spoke on former manager Giovanni Trappatoni.

“The coach was a fantastic player and an incredible coach too. He was a great expert and teacher of football, but there is one more important thing: he is a great man with a lot of personality.”

Luciano Spalletti’s future at the club has been heavily speculated about but Brehme insisted that the club must be entirely focused on tonight’s match with Empoli.

“Inter must concentrate on the next match, not on other issues. I don’t want to comment on what the management’s internal decisions will be.”

In conclusion he was asked what he thinks Inter need in the transfer market to improve.

“These are decisions that the club’s management will have to make, but I think the team is on the right track. I hope Inter will qualify for the Champions League this weekend.”
