Inter captain Samir Handanovic has shared his thoughts and feelings following Inter’s 2-1 triumph over Empoli which secured the team their place in next season’s Champions League.

“We were made to work for it and we suffered but in the end we won. We are deservedly in the Champions League,” he began the interview with Inter TV.

“Today was a different game to last week’s against Napoli. I have to thank the fans because without them, today would have been difficult for us.

“We did not have to look at the other results but rather we had to do everything we could and trust only in ourselves. We knew we had to win and we did just that. Empoli are a tough team with a lot of young players and they played well in the second half.”

He concluded the interview: “Let’s enjoy this moment but we have to aim higher.”
