Legendary Inter player Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Bergomi has spoken on Inter securing their place in next season’s edition of the Champions League following a 2-1 victory over Empoli last night.

“Given the premises, there was too much effort to reach the goal. It must be said that an important goal was achieved, given how the season had started, with this final match against Empoli which was not a formality,” he began an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport.

With current manager Luciano Spalletti on his way out of the club, Bergomi then spoke on Antonio Conte’s Inter and what he thinks Inter need.

“A 33-year-old centre back in Diego Godin has already been signed for the defensive department where the team was already well covered. However, to play Conte’s style of football, Inter do not have the right full backs. They need to make signings in the midfield and then they need to decide what to do with Mauro Icardi.”
