Andrea Pirlo has shared his belief that Inter striker Mauro Icardi will not fit into incoming Inter manager Antonio Conte’s plans at the club.
“Mauro is not a striker suited to Conte’s style of play,” the former Inter midfielder remarked in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport.
“In the attack, Conte prefers to have someone that can link up with their teammates and in this regard, it is very difficult for Icardi [to be part of Conte’s Inter].”
The legendary Italian midfielder progressed to discuss comparisons between former Inter manager Jose Mourinho and Conte.
“In my eyes, Conte gives more than Mourinho does in terms of how he has his teams playing to the competitive nastiness he gives his sides.”
He concluded the interview admitting that he believes Conte could bring everyone closer: “Conte will surely be able to bring the fans and even the players closer to the team.”
