Radja Nainggolan reflected on Inter’s Champions League clinching 2-1 victory over Empoli post-match at San Siro and firstly spoke on the Azzurri.

“It was a difficult match, Empoli deserved to stay in Serie A for the way in which they play football. They ae a team full of interesting young players, who played great,” the Belgian midfielder remarked in an interview with Inter TV.

Nainggolan’s goal proved to be the match winner in the end and he then spoke on this and targeted further improvement next season.

“I didn’t think about it, I just hit the ball. We were in trouble at that point in the game and we are sorry because Empoli put us in a lot of trouble.

“In football its the details that make the difference and it was right for us to qualify for the Champions League.

“The Champions League is something that every player dreams of as a child. I am happy that Inter is there again, Inter should be there every year. Now the league is more balanced, there is still more to improve upon.”

In conclusion he was asked for his opinion on how he felt his debut campaign in Nerazzurri went and what the biggest regret is.

“It went so so. I was unlucky and started off badly but I am satisfied because I always gave my best. I hope I can start strong again next year, without injuries.

“Seeing Tottenham in the Champions League final it would be easy to say that we coul have been there. We had to win against PSV at home but didn’t and this is our biggest regret of the season.
