In today’s paper edition of the newspaper, Milano based Gazzetta dello Sport confirms that Luciano Spalletti is no longer coach of Inter, and that Antonio Conte will replace him.

According to the report, the official announcement should arrive in a few days, and is expected on Friday, before the Champions League final, where Conte, Marotta and Ausilio will meet to watch the game together

“The first step will be to inform Spalletti of his sacking. Marotta and President Zhang want to do this personally, since the coach’s contract does not expire until the end of June 2021 and he has got the Nerazzurri back into the Champions League two years in a row. The last coach to do this was treble winner, Jose Mourinho. This is expected to happen today, at latest tomorrow.”

“Then, assuming the plan goes well, the next step will be to welcome Conte and his staff to Inter on Thursday, with the public announcement on Friday.”

“Conte will sign a three year contract, worth €9 million per year, plus bonuses. With him, he will bring numerous new staff members, such as, Cristian Stellini, who is expected to continue as his deputy which he has done since his first day at Juventus.”

“In addition, the return of Lele Oriali to Inter is also highly anticipated. The two formed a bond during their time with the Italian national team and now Oriali will return to the Nerazzurri as the link between coaching staff and management.”

The season officially starts on July 8th, when the team go on their annual retreat to Lugano, just before the tour in Asia, which starts on July 16th or 17th.
