A meeting between Inter and Fiorentina to hold talks over Federico Chiesa was cancelled in recent days according to a report from La Repubblica.
The two clubs were due to meet but due to the current situation at Fiorentina with regards to the potential changing of owners, the meeting was scrapped.
The report from the Rome based newspaper goes on to state that Rocco Commisso, the Italian-American businessman in talks to takeover at La Viola, is understood to wish to keep the 21-year-old starlet at the club therefore meaning the cancelled meeting may never actually take place.
Inter have long been on the trail of the Italian international but face strong competition from arch-rivals Juventus for his signature.
During the 2018/19 season, the attacker, who is primarily a right winger but also capable of playing on the opposite side, made 41 appearances.
In 3383 minutes on the park, he scored 12 goals and also tallied 9 assists in the process.
