Antonio Conte held his first meeting as Inter’s new head coach with the club’s management and Suning owner Zhang Jindong this afternoon, according to Sky Sport.

Conte was officially unveiled as Luciano Spalletti’s replacement on Friday morning before flying out to Madrid ahead of tomorrow’s Champions League final.

The Italian will attend the match between Liverpool and Tottenham at the Wanda Metropolitano alongside his new colleagues, whom he met with earlier today.

Zhang Jindong has not traveled to Europe for matters explicitly relating to Inter since 2017 but made the journey from Nanjing today in order to greet Conte in first person.

Inter made an approach to Conte two years ago following the sacking of Stefano Pioli but were unable to release him from his contract at Chelsea, ultimately choosing Luciano Spalletti instead.

Conte told reporters today he wanted his Inter side to be ‘normal and strong’ before encouraging his players to help him create new memories for supporters following the treble in 2010.
