Former Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar last night reiterated he enjoyed ‘the best years of my career’ in Italy.

The Brazilian spent eight seasons at Inter before leaving in 2012 and was part of the side that secured an historic treble under Jose Mourinho in the 2009-10 season.

Cesar made 300 appearances in all competitions for the Nerazzurri and won 14 major honours during that time.

“Italy will always be in my heart,” the keeper told Sky Sport after taking part in a legends match at the Foro Italico in Rome.

“This is where I enjoyed the best moments of my career, that much is certain.

“I wanted to thank Francesco Totti and Luis Figo for organising this event, it’s always lovely to come to Italy.”

Cesar played for Brazilian side Flamengo until moving to Italy in 2004 and returned there before retiring in 2018.

The 39-year-old also made 87 appearances for the Brazilian national team, playing in goal for the Selecao at the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups.
