Antonio Conte is expected to impose strict rules on his new Inter players when he begins preseason training in July, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Conte was officially unveiled as Luciano Spalletti’s replacement on Friday and attended the Champions League final in Madrid alongside the club’s management, before returning to Milan yesterday.

The Italian has been recruited by the Nerazzurri to win trophies and he will leave no stone unturned in his quest to restore Inter to their former glories, with Gazzetta describing his approach as ‘full metal Conte’.

Conte will stress the importance of the group over the individual, telling players ‘anyone who thinks in terms of ‘I’ can go home’, making it unlikely Mauro Icardi will stay at the club given his selfish conduct last season.

He will increase the intensity of Inter’s training sessions, with Giorgio Chiellini’s comments during his spell at Juventus – ‘you’re not tired after a Conte training session, you’re dead’ – providing a taster of what is to come.

Conte will introduce tighter regulations on what Inter’s players are allowed to eat at Appiano Gentile, having banned pizza and soft drinks during his spell at Chelsea, as well as asking them to cut down the time they spend on social media.

And he will request maximum respect for the Inter shirt at all times, reminding players of their responsibilities on a regular basis.
