Inter’s hopes of signing Torino defender Armando Izzo have suffered a blow after the Granata’s president Urbano Cairo told them he is not for sale, as reported by Tuttosport.

Antonio Conte has identified the Italian centre-back as the ideal profile to complete Inter’s defensive options for the 2019-20 season, with reports suggesting he will use a three-man defence.

Inter made an enquiry amid reports Torino are interested in signing Roberto Gagliardini, who is valued at €15 million.

However, the chances of Izzo being included in any deal for the midfielder are slim, with Cairo unwilling to enter into negotiations for the 27-year-old.

Diego Godin will join Milan Skriniar, Stefan De Vrij and Andrea Ranocchia at San Siro next season after his contract with Atletico Madrid expires on 30 June.

Conte would like at least one more centre-back to provide cover, though, with no indication yet as to what Inter will do with Alessandro Bastoni, who returns from a season-long loan at Parma.
