Inter will meet with Ajax midfielder Donny Van de Beek’s representatives in Milan this week as they sound out the possibility of a move for the 22-year-old.

Van de Beek scored 17 goals and provided 13 assists for the Dutch champions this season as they reached the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League, netting the winning goal in Ajax’s first leg win over Tottenham at Wembley.

FcInterNews.it today reported Piero Ausilio is a huge admirer of Van de Beek, for whom Ajax want €50 million, and will attempt to lay the groundwork for what would be a high-profile signing in midfield.

The competition promises to be stiff, as he is also courting interest from Real Madrid, Tottenham and Manchester United. Borussia Dortmund have already seen a €35-million bid rejected.

However, Inter have been working quietly behind the scenes for a number of weeks and want to have a go at securing the midfielder’s services.

Antonio Conte is intrigued by the prospect of working with Van de Beek and would like to sign two players in midfield this summer, with the other expected to be either Cagliari’s Nicolo Barella or Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini.
