Inter’s Portuguese international midfielder Joao Mario, could return to Sporting Lisbon three years after leaving the club to join the Nerazzurri, according to Portuguese media outlet O Jogo.

According to the report, Sporting President Frederico Varandas, is looking into the possibility of bringing Joao Mario back, despite knowing that the negotiations wont be easy.

Sporting are looking to fill the void in the middle of the pitch that will be left by captain Bruno Fernandes, who will almost certainly leave the club this summer after a stellar season with the Leões, having scored 31 goals from his midfield position, with Manchester City and Liverpool reportedly battling it out for the player’s signature.

It is reported that Joao Mario is not part of new Inter coach Antonio Conte’s plans, and as such Sporting want to throw their hat in the mix.

However, they will face stiff competition from Premier League outfit Everton, who are the other team to show a clear interest in Joao Mario, and who are coached by Portuguese coach Marco Silva.
