Antonio Conte was the one man Inter needed to reverse the club’s post-treble fortunes, according to a respected journalist and pundit in Italy.

Mario Sconcerti believes the Italian’s arrival will guarantee the Nerazzurri return to their former glories, praising his ability to get players performing above their real potential.

Sconcerti also predicted striker Mauro Icardi will leave the club this summer as the Argentine is not suited to Conte’ style of play.

“Inter are a good side who are full of ‘number twos’, but they’re the players Conte adores because he can transform them,” Sconcerti said.

“Conte is one of the few signings you can make which changes the complexion of a team. I think Inter are back now.

“Icardi isn’t suited to the way Conte wants to play so I think he’ll leave. In any case, with all due respect, I can’t really imagine Conte dealing with Wanda Nara.”
