Antonio Conte could breathe new life into Antonio Candreva’s Inter career when the pair are reunited in preseason training.

Tuttosport today argued Candreva will be the happiest of all the Nerazzurri’s current players to see Conte arrive at San Siro, having enjoyed a positive spell with the Italian national team under his guidance.

The forward made 25 appearances for the Azzurri with Conte in charge, including 13 starts, and might not be certain to leave the club this summer after all.

“Candreva was one of the players who had the most visibility and game-time while Conte was with Italy,” the paper reported.

“Conte appreciates Candreva to the extent he was a transfer target for the then-Chelsea boss in the summer of 2017.”

Conte’s decision to use a 3-5-2 system with Inter next season could prove decisive in reviving the 32-year-old’s career, because Candreva’s success at Italy came when he was playing at right wing-back.

He made just 18 league appearances under Luciano Spalletti last year, scoring one goal.
