Inter will only pursue a move for Roma left-back Aleksandar Kolarov if the player falls out with the Giallorossi in the coming weeks, Gazzetta dello Sport understands.

Kolarov’s teammate Edin Dzeko is all-but certain to sign for the Nerazzurri next week and it has been suggested Inter could snap up both in a double swoop.

However, the Serbian remains in standby for now as Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio evaluate other options.

Were Kolarov to be included in the deal with Dzeko, Inter would increase the fee from €10-12 million to €18-20 million.

The 33-year-old has made 90 appearances for Roma since arriving in 2017, scoring 12 goals.

Antonio Conte is thought to want a mix of Italian talent and experienced heads in his Inter squad, having been unveiled as the club’s new head coach last week.

Talks for Nicolo Barella are at an advanced stage while Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin will join on a free transfer at the start of July.
