Inter stand to save as much as €15 million on Antonio Conte’s mega-money salary thanks to new fiscal laws coming into effect in Italy.

The nation’s so-called Decreto Crescita allows people who have worked abroad for at least two years to pay less income tax than other citizens.

In practice it means Conte’s €10-11 million net salary will only cost Inter €13-14 million, as opposed to €20-22 million – provided the former Chelsea boss has not moved his fiscal residence back to Italy since leaving Great Britain.

Inter will ultimately spend €70 million for their coaching change at the end of the 2018-19 season, which saw them sack Luciano Spalletti and appoint Conte as his replacement.

Conte was officially unveiled by the Nerazzurri on Friday and spent the weekend in Madrid with the club’s management, where they attended the Champions League final and met Suning boss Zhang Jindong.

The 49-year-old then had his first official day of work in his new job on Monday.
