Brescia midfielder and former Inter target Sandro Tonali has confirmed he would prefer to stay in Italy if he leaves the Rondinelle this summer.

Tonali was linked heavily with a move to Inter during the January transfer window but the rumours have since dissipated, with Roma now thought by some sources to be the most interested.

Speaking from Italy’s training camp at Coverciano yesterday, ahead of the Azzurri’s Euro 2020 qualifiers against Greece and Bosnia, Tonali said: “My idea has always been to play in Italy.

“I don’t know what my future holds but I see myself playing for a club in this country.

“I’m speaking to my family about my future a lot, it’s a decision that we will all have to be agreed on.”

Tonali broke into Brescia’s first team in January 2018 when the club were struggling near the relegation places in Serie B under Roberto Boscaglia.

The 19-year-old has not been taken out of the side since and is touted as one of Italy’s most talented young footballers.
