Inter Still Considering Move To Bring Real Madrid Midfielder Kovacic Back To Club

Inter are still considering a move to bring Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic back to the club this summer, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Nerazzurri are close to completing the signing of Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella, having met with the Rossoblu yesterday to make further progress.

However, the club are expected to recruit two new midfielders ahead of next season as head coach Antonio Conte prepares what he hopes will become a Serie A title challenge.

Kovacic could be signed on loan after spending the 2018-19 season at Chelsea and would replace Radja Nainggolan, who is anything but certain to remain at Inter.

The Croatian international made 32 appearances in the Premier League under Maurizio Sarri, contributing two assists as the Blues secured a third-place finish.

Sporting director Piero Ausilio remains a fond admirer of Kovacic, who would not need time to settle in having already played for Inter between 2012 and 2015.

It is nonetheless described as a difficult signing to pull off, although the Rome-based publication does not specify why.
