Fiorentina Owner Commisso Vows To Keep Inter Target Chiesa ‘At Least For This Season’

Fiorentina’s new owner Rocco Commisso has promised supporters he wants to keep hold of the club’s star player Federico Chiesa this summer.

Inter are known to be interested in the 21-year-old forward, although Chiesa is widely reported to have already agreed personal terms with Juventus instead.

Commisso held his first press conference after buying the club from the Della Valle family on Friday and assured fans he did not want to produce a repeat of what happened in 1990, when Fiorentina sold Roberto Baggio to Juventus.

“Our intention is to keep Chiesa, at least for this season,” Commisso told reporters.

“I’ve been assured nobody has put pen to paper on anything and I don’t want him to become my Baggio.”

Chiesa is due to be involved in Italy’s Euro 2020 qualifiers against Greece and Bosnia this week but the forward will struggle to keep his mind fully concentrated on matters on the pitch.
