Former Inter defender Fulvio Collovati has backed Antonio Conte to avoid suffering the same fate as Marcello Lippi when he was in charge of the Nerazzurri.
Lippi spent one season as Inter’s head coach and received a horrid reception from supporters, who were unable to forgive his past at Juventus and refused to pardon any of his mistakes.
Collovati spent four seasons playing for Inter in the 1980s and told Radio Marte Conte would be a success at San Siro.
“People are still a bit burned in Milan from when Lippi arrived from Juventus, but I don’t think Conte will experience the same problems he had back then,” he said.
“Milanese football is returning now. Inter have great future prospects whereas Milan I think have a few more problems to resolve.
“I think it’s Napoli who could fight for the Scudetto next season, though, provided they have a good transfer window and don’t sell any key players.”
