Former Cagliari Coach Rastelli: “Barella Is Ready For A Big Club Like Inter”

Former Cagliari coach Massimo Rastelli has assured Inter supporters Nicolo Barella is ready to play for a club as big as the Nerazzurri.

Rastelli spent two-and-a-half seasons in charge of the Rossoblu and helped Barella break into the club’s first team, having initially loaned him out to Serie B side Como in 2016.

Speaking to Sky Sport, Rastelli admitted the 22-year-old would struggle to leave the side he has grown up in but said he had no doubts he would succeed at Inter.

“It won’t be easy for him to leave Cagliari because I know how much he cares about the club,” Rastelli said.

“I think it’s only right at this stage in his career though to move to a big club, he’s proven himself to have a great strength of personality.

“When I first started coaching Barella I worked a lot on his mindset, but he’s a very mature player anyway so most of the credit goes to him.

“He’s got great technique and has a good character as well. He just needs to stay humble and concentrate on improving himself day after day.”
