Inter are heading for a summer-long standoff with striker Mauro Icardi with neither side showing any sign of changing their current position.
Sky Sport tonight reported a ‘wall against wall’ scenario was becoming ever more likely, with the strong possibility this will not be resolved before the end of the summer.
Inter have decided Icardi will never play for Inter again – not least because of the broken relationship between him and their supporters – with new head coach Antonio Conte backing the club’s hard-line stance.
Icardi, on the other hand, has no intention to leave the Nerazzurri and wants to turn up at the start of preseason training for a frank conversation with Conte.
The Argentine is convinced he can change the new boss’s mind despite all evidence suggesting Conte has consigned Icardi to the transfer scrapheap.
Inter are also considering getting rid of Radja Nainggolan this summer, while midfielders Roberto Gagliardini and Matias Vecino are considered to be not for sale.
