Real Madrid forward Lucas Vazquez has emerged as Inter’s first alternative to Hertha Berlin midfielder Valentino Lazaro.

Sky Sport tonight reported the Spaniard’s name appeared during talks between Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio and the La Liga club in Madrid, which took place yesterday.

Vazquez is not a conventional wing-back and in that sense represents an imperfect backup plan to Lazaro, for whom Inter wish to complete a deal before Wednesday following interest from PSG.

The Nerazzurri believe they could try him out in that position nonetheless, though, as well as using him in Conte’s front two.

Vazquez, who turns 28 in July, made 47 appearances in all competitions for Real Madrid last season, scoring five goals and providing four assists.

The forward has already scored on Italian soil after grabbing the opening goal away to Roma in November, as Madrid secured a 2-0 win in the group stages of the Champions League.
