Mauro Icardi wants to take part in preseason training with Inter and convince head coach Antonio Conte to give him a chance to stay at the club, according to Corriere della Sera.

Inter have decided to sell Icardi and would like to swap him with Juventus forward Paulo Dybala, but the idea has yet to properly take off.

Icardi has no intention of leaving the Nerazzurri for a second-rate team, though, nor do his family have any desire to leave the city of Milan.

Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio will be required to meet the striker’s wife and agent Wanda Nara in the coming days to seek a solution to the crisis.

Conte is determined to get Icardi out of the club after speaking with some of the senior members of Inter’s dressing room, who have returned less than favourable reviews on their former captain.

The Italian’s position is described as ‘inflexible’ and could prove the catalyst for a very tense few weeks.
