Inter offered striker Mauro Icardi to Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid last week when Piero Ausilio and Beppe Marotta flew to the Spanish capital, according to Il Giornale.

Ausilio and Marotta met Madrid to discuss potential deals for Lucas Vazquez and Marco Asensio, both of whom could leave the La Liga giants this summer to seek more game-time.

Icardi’s name also emerged during talks, however, with Inter desperately looking for a club to buy the forward they no longer want.

The paper did not discuss whether or not Icardi would accept such a destination, but it is widely known he would only move to Juventus if Inter forced him out.

Il Giornale also provided an update on several other deals Inter are pursuing, predicting Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella would complete his move to the Nerazzurri in short order.

Inter have a base agreement with Real Madrid to sign Mateo Kovacic on loan while they are also considering a move for Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes, offering the Portuguese club a swap deal with Joao Mario.

Manchester United remain uninterested in a swap between Icardi and Romelu Lukaku, meanwhile.
