Mauro Icardi will be all but frozen out of Inter’s first-team squad if he does not leave the club before preseason training, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Icardi and wife and agent Wanda Nara remain determined to stay at Inter and are rejecting all advances from other clubs, with the aim of starting preseason as normal on 7 July.

Antonio Conte has no intention of counting upon the 26-year-old next year, though, and would make him the club’s fifth-choice striker while they wait for him to depart.

Juventus are the only club Icardi would be interested in joining should the forward change his mind and agree to leave.

Inter’s transfer market continues regardless of their former captain and the club hope to complete the signing of Roma striker Edin Dzeko later this week.

Romelu Lukaku, who like Dzeko scored for his national team last night, also remains an objective, but the Belgian is a harder target to secure given Manchester United’s high asking price.
