Inter hope Antonio Conte will be able to convince Mauro Icardi to leave the club if he is asked to speak with the forward, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Piero Ausilio, Luciano Spalletti and Beppe Marotta have all tried and failed to resolve the dilemma concerning Icardi’s future since the 26-year-old was stripped of the captaincy in February.

The Nerazzurri’s last-ditch attempt to persuade Maurito he has no future at the club will see Conte speak to him directly and explain the club’s position.

Should Icardi still not accept they do not want him anymore, the club are prepared to exclude him from their preseason training camp and subsequent tour of Asia.

Inter are desperate to get rid of Icardi before preparation for the new campaign begins on 8 July, in order to avoid unnecessary sideshows.

Icardi is convinced he will manage to talk Conte into giving him another chance once the pair are together after the summer holidays.
