Inter will be forced to step up their pursuit of Hertha Berlin midfielder Valentino Lazaro if they do not wish Paris Saint-Germain to beat them to the player, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Nerazzurri held a two-hour transfer summit in Milan yesterday where the club analysed their current targets and discussed how best to move forward.

Lazaro’s name emerged during the meeting as Inter’s management discussed whether or not to step up their pursuit, although the paper did not indicate what their decision was.

The 23-year-old made 31 appearances for Hertha last season as they secured an 11th-place finish in Germany’s top flight, scoring three goals and contributing seven assists.

Antonio Conte views the midfielder as the ideal profile to play at right wing-back in his 3-5-2 system, capable of covering the entire right wing with his stamina and pace.

Piero Ausilio has been following Lazaro for months and watched him in person during in their 1-0 defeat at home to Poland on 21 March, where he played 81 minutes on the right-hand side of a 4-2-3-1 formation.
