Inter head coach Antonio Conte met with Gabriele Oriali yesterday as the Nerazzurri prepare to welcome him back as their new club manager, according to Tuttosport.

Oriali is free from his duties with the Italian national team after working with the Azzurri for their Euro 2020 qualifiers against Greece and Bosnia earlier this week.

Inter have not yet officially announced the 66-year-old’s return but his attendance at yesterday’s meeting confirms it is only a matter of time.

Conte’s staff were also present as the former Juventus and Chelsea boss began developing plans for Inter’s preseason training camp.

Oriali made more than 500 appearances for Inter as a player during the 1970s and 1980s, winning two Serie A titles and two Coppa Italia trophies.

The ex-midfielder has already spent two years working with Conte for Italy, where he has served as team manager since 2014, which saw them reach the quarter-finals of Euro 2016 together.
