Inter are increasingly optimistic of completing a deal to sign midfielder Valentino Lazaro from Hertha Berlin, according to Sky Sport.

The clubs have had a series of ‘positive’ contacts during the last few days and are confident they will reach an agreement soon.

Inter hope they will only need one more meeting with Hertha to seal the deal and that could take place at the beginning of next week.

The 23-year-old made 31 appearances for Hertha last season as they secured an 11th-place finish in Germany’s top flight, scoring three goals and contributing seven assists.

Antonio Conte views the midfielder as the ideal profile to play at right wing-back in his 3-5-2 system, capable of covering the entire right wing with his stamina and pace.

Piero Ausilio has been following Lazaro for months and watched him in person during in their 1-0 defeat at home to Poland on 21 March, where he played 81 minutes on the right-hand side of a 4-2-3-1 formation.
