Inter’s chief executive Alessandro Antonello today promised supporters the 2019-20 season would be ‘a long and important one’ for the Nerazzurri.

Antonello joined fellow CEO Beppe Marotta in presenting Inter’s preseason training camp in Lugano this morning, holding a press conference in the Swiss city.

The 53-year-old outlined the club’s choices for picking Lugano as the location for their summer preparation and looked ahead to the new campaign.

“Today we’re inaugurating a new season which will be long and important,” Antonello told reporters.

“Let’s hope we can all meet at the end of the year and say we made the right decision coming here for preseason.

“When Beppe Marotta and I began planning the new season we asked ourselves which cities could host us in the appropriate manner, both in terms of infrastructure and business.

“Lugano immediately sprung to mind as a place that could welcome us for the start of our important season, providing for us adequately in a sporting and economic sense.

“We want to bring our partners to Lugano here in July so they can get to know the city better in a touristic, economic and financial sense.

“Football clubs are as much businesses as they are anything else these days. The sporting side of things remains prevalent but these aspects are important as well.”
