Inter are edging closer to completing a deal for Hertha Berlin midfielder Valentino Lazaro after making a €19 million offer, according to Sky Sport.

The Nerazzurri’s offer for the 23-year-old includes a fixed fee of €17 million plus €2 million in add-ons.

Hertha would like a little more but will agree to sell the player if Inter do make a slight adjustment upwards.

Inter could complete the deal in the first few days of next week and are planning a trip to Germany to finalise everything.

Lazaro made 31 appearances for Hertha last season as they secured an 11th-place finish in Germany’s top flight, scoring three goals and contributing seven assists.

Antonio Conte views the midfielder as the ideal profile to play at right wing-back in his 3-5-2 system, capable of covering the entire right wing with his stamina and pace.

Piero Ausilio has been following Lazaro for months and watched him in person during in their 1-0 defeat at home to Poland on 21 March, where he played 81 minutes on the right-hand side of a 4-2-3-1 formation.
