Former Inter manager Luciano Spalletti has spoken for the first time since being removed from his position as Inter manager almost two weeks ago.

The Italian was in charge of the Nerazzurri for two seasons and was replaced by former Italian national team manager Antonio Conte.

“I am honoured to have had the opportunity to manage Inter,” Spalletti is quoted by gianlucadimarzio.com as saying at a coaching event.

“I will dearly treasure all the time we spent together. In trying to build, the club wanted important roles filled by certain people.”

He also spoke on the Inter supporters.

“Inter is a great team with wonderful fans, but you only really get a grasp of that by living inside that atmosphere, as you have to answer to these supporters.”

Spalletti then concluded his speech by discussing his future and if he had been subject to any offers to get back into management.

“I do not think any club has really thought about me.”
