Valentino Lazaro is expected to become Inter’s first signing of the summer with the Nerazzurri close to a €20 million deal, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The club have offered Hertha Berlin €18 million plus €2 million in add-ons and are set to beat the competition to secure the 23-year-old’s services.

Inter have been in talks with Cagliari and Roma over Nicolò Barella and Edin Dzeko for longer but Lazaro will probably be unveiled before either target is signed.

Antonio Conte thinks the player is perfect for his 3-5-2 system at right wing-back.

Lazaro made 31 appearances for Hertha last season as they secured an 11th-place finish in the Bundesliga, scoring three goals and contributing seven assists.

Inter almost signed the Austrian international in 2012 when Piero Ausilio agreed a deal with Red Bull Salzburg, but Lazaro’s mother ultimately pulled the plug on a move.

Lazaro has an Angolan father and Greek mother and used to skate as a ‘freestyler’.
