Inter’s Sporting Director Piero Ausilio believes that things are changing with regards to interest in women’s football, and therefore it is only right that the game becomes professionalized, according to a report by Italian media outlet Cesenatoday.

According to the report, Ausilio was surprised at the level of interest in women’s football and believed that this trend is here to stay, and therefore the women’s game must become professional as soon as possible.

“I would never have imagined to find two, three pages in the sporting newspapers dedicated to women’s football. Something is changing, and I think it is only right that soon the women’s game becomes fully professionalized.”

Ausilio, was invited by the organizers of the UEFA U-21 European Championships that is held in Italy, where Cesena is one of the cities where the matches are played, to participate in the Cesena city square for a symposium about football.
