Inter remain set to sell defender Zinho Vanheusden to Standard Liege despite late interest from Royal Antwerp, according to reports in Belgium.

Sky Sport yesterday announced Antwerp had joined the race for the 19-year-old, who seemed destined to head back to Standard for €18-20 million.

Dhnet.be today said Inter had not received any approach from the Belgian outfit, though, suggesting Antwerp’s interest was not as real as it seemed.

“You could see their interest as an attempt to disturb Standard, who remain strong favourites to sign Vanheusden,” they reported.

Vanheusden has spent the last 18 months on loan at Standard and broke into their starting XI this season before suffering a knee injury.

Inter are expected to send midfielder Xian Emmers on loan as part of the deal, having recalled the youngster from a season-long loan at Cremonese in Serie B.

The deal will help Inter raise funds as they seek capital gains before 30 June, in a bid to avoid breaking Financial Fair Play rules.
