Inter held talks for defender Alessandro Bastoni and Jiangsu Suning striker Eder yesterday after the players’ agent visited their offices in Milan, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Both players had been linked with a move to Cagliari as part of a deal for Nicolo Barella, but Inter’s latest offer for the midfielder was cash-only.

Bastoni would need to be replaced if he were sent out on loan because he is currently Inter’s only left-footed defender.

Eder wants to return to Serie A but his €5 million salary could represent a stumbling block for any potential deal, and Jiangsu Suning would need to agree to release him anyway.

Bastoni started for Italy’s under-21s last night as the Azzurrini were beaten by Poland in the UEFA European Under-21 Championships.

Eder has scored seven goals and created two assists for Jiangsu this year, having joined the Chinese Super League side from Inter in January 2018.
