Inter’s pursuit of Hertha Berlin midfielder Valentino Lazaro has become harder after the Bundesliga club upped their asking price to €25 million, according to Tuttosport.

Hertha initially seemed willing to accept €20 million for the Austrian international, who scored three goals and created seven assists in the league last season.

Inter’s proposal of €17-18 million plus €2 million in add-ons will no longer be enough, though, meaning they will have to increase their offer to sign the 23-year-old.

The club have endured a torrid week on the transfer front with talks for Nicolo Barella and Edin Dzeko also having stalled.

Antonio Conte will begin preseason training with his new team on 7 July and wanted as many signings as possible in place when work started.

Diego Godin will arrive from Atletico Madrid on a free transfer but it remains to be seen who else is secured in time.

France under-17 captain Lucien Agoume remains the only signing Inter have officially confirmed so far.
