Inter Are No Closer To Signing Dzeko After Fresh Talks With Roma

Inter are no closer to signing Edin Dzeko from Roma after Beppe Marotta met with the Giallorossi’s CEO Guido Fienga yesterday, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Talks for the Bosnian forward are stalling because the clubs are €10 million apart on their valuations, with Inter offering €10 million and Roma wanting €20 million.

Neither party seems willing to budge on their current position, meaning further meetings will be required to close a deal.

Inter remain optimistic they can bring Dzeko to San Siro, however, because they know both clubs want to reach an agreement.

Dzeko has already agreed a three-year deal worth €4.5 million per season and this is said to have irritated Roma, who are holding firm in negotiations as a result.

The clubs had initially hoped to arrange a part-exchange deal involving one of Inter’s academy players, but they have been unable to find a name both agree on.

Roma’s requests for Andrea Pinamonti and Ionut Radu were immediately vetoed by Inter but their own offer of Davide Merola did not entice the Giallorossi.

Antonio Conte has identified Dzeko as a key transfer target and Inter will ‘do everything’ to ensure the 33-year-old is signed before preseason training begins on 7 July.

The Nerazzurri have not fallen out with Roma and both parties intend to meet again soon in the hope they can make progress.
