Lautaro Martinez appeared to criticise Argentina’s coach Lionel Scaloni last night after the Albiceleste suffered another setback in the Copa America.

Lionel Messi’s second-half penalty rescued a 1-1 draw against Paraguay following a dreadful performance, meaning Argentina need to beat Qatar to ensure a place in the quarter-finals.

The Inter striker started up front but was taken off after 67 minutes, having won the penalty for Messi’s equaliser, and did not seem to approve of the decision.

“Tactically and aesthetically speaking, what we and the public see is that you create more chances when you have more attackers on the pitch,” Lautaro said in the mixed zone.

“We’re annoyed with the result but we have to look ahead. We don’t have time to feel sorry for ourselves.”

Lautaro’s substitution came after the forward received a knock in his lower back, with the 21-year-old confirming he wasn’t 100% fit thereafter.

“It’s normal you always want to play on, though,” he added.
