Inter have received an offer from Sampdoria to sign Alessandro Bastoni on a season-long loan, according to calciomercato.com.

Bastoni was linked with a move to Cagliari earlier this month as part of a deal to bring Nicolò Barella to the Nerazzurri, but this no longer seems likely.

Samp met with Inter’s representatives yesterday and asked for the 20-year-old, but Bastoni himself would prefer a move to Genoa.

The 20-year-old made 24 appearances for Parma last season and scored his only goal of the season against the Blucerchiati, when the teams drew 3-3 in May.

Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio must now decide where best to leave Bastoni for the 2019-20 season, bearing in mind he is Inter’s only left-footed defender and could be valuable to Antonio Conte.

Bastoni started for Italy’s under-21s last night as the Azzurrini fell to a surprise defeat against Poland, leaving them on the verge of elimination from this summer’s European Championships.
