Stefano Sensi’s former manager Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Iachini is convinced that the Italian national team midfielder will be a hit as he gets closer to a move to Inter.

“He was born an attacking midfielder, but I believe that moving him to just in front of the defence has made him more of an important player. He has a great future,” Iachini, who managed Sensi two years ago at Sassuolo, told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“He has a great personality which is combined with remarkable technical skills and vision. He knows how to make the team work.

“Moreover, he is young and can grow still. In the past season he improved in the transitional phase of the game as well as in recovering the ball and his positioning.”

Iachini also shared his views on a possible midfield partnership between Sensi and Nicolo Barella, who also looks set to join Inter.

“Sensi and him are two of the strongest youngsters in Italy. Barella knows how to give balance whilst Sensi is more of a technical player.”

He concluded by discussing whether Inter have what it takes to challenge for the Serie A title.

“Inter were already a good team, otherwise they would not have qualified for the Champions League two years running but now they are ready to fight at the top of the table.”
