Stefano Sensi is ready to play for a big club as he awaits to complete a move to Inter, according to one of the midfielder’s former coaches.

Massimo Drago coached the 23-year-old while he played for Cesena during the 2015-16 season, where Sensi made his breakthrough in senior football.

Drago told Tuttosport the Italian would not buckle under the pressure of playing at San Siro and said his versatility would be valuable for Antonio Conte.

“Stefano has made a good impression in a very organised team like Sassuolo and I think the moment has arrived for him to make the next step,” he said.

“He’s got a cold character and doesn’t get carried away easily so I don’t think his price tag [€25 million] or San Siro will influence him.

“It’s one thing when you play at San Siro as an opponent but when you have the stadium on your side it can really carry you. Let’s not forget he’s on the scene with Italy too, which further underlines his qualities.

“Stefano can play any position in midfield. He’s a good play-maker because of his ability on the ball but he has developed over time, and he can now make good forward runs and score goals too.

“He’s a Spanish-style player in the way he always finds space to receive the ball and can play simple. You find him everywhere and he always knows where to position himself next.”

Sensi made 28 league appearances for Sassuolo last season, scoring two goals and creating four assists.
