Lautaro Martinez’s goals and performances at the Copa America are likely to be impressing his new boss Antonio Conte, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

El Toro helped Argentina rescue a draw against Paraguay by winning a penalty before scoring the opener in a decisive 2-0 win over Qatar.

Martinez is the Albiceleste’s top scorer since Lionel Scaloni took over as head coach, scoring five goals in just nine international appearances.

“He’s getting very good ratings in the Argentine newspapers,” Gazzetta assured today.

“They seem to be impressed by his work-rate in defence and his willingness to link up with Lionel Messi, as well as his goal against Qatar.”

Messi has only scored three goals since Scaloni’s arrival but will naturally be crucial to Argentina’s hopes of beating Venezuela in the quarter-finals.

Lautaro’s positive display in Brazil was described by the paper as an indirect message to Conte, who will no doubt be counting on him for Inter next season.
