Lautaro Martinez’s father believes his son is compatible with fellow Argentina stars Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero.

The Inter striker scored the opening goal in Sunday’s 2-0 win over Qatar as the Albiceleste secured a place in the Copa America quarter-finals.

Lautaro started up front in a three-pronged attack with Messi and Aguero and father Mario approved Lionel Scaloni’s courageous decision.

“The team played with the right approach and they had balance, despite playing with three strikers,” he told Super Deportivo Radio.

“I hope Lautaro can play every match from now until the end of the tournament but to do so he’ll have to work very hard.”

Mario also admitted his dream was to see Lautaro coached by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola one day.

“Let’s be clear, though, this is only a wish of mine as a father,” he added.

Argentina will face Venezuela in the second Copa America quarter-final on Friday.
