Monaco Interested In Signing Inter Midfielder Joao Mario

Inter have received an approach from Monaco for outgoing midfielder Joao Mario, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The club want to get rid of the Portuguese international on a permanent deal but would accept a loan with an obligation to buy next summer.

Jorge Mendes is leading the Monegasques’ pursuit of the player and a move is described as ‘a possibility’.

Joao Mario had been linked with a return to Sporting Lisbon, but his €3 million wages means it will be difficult to arrange a deal.

Inter signed the 26-year-old for more than €40 million in 2016 and stand no chance of receiving anything like as much money in a sale.

Mario spent the second half of the 2017-18 season on loan at West Ham after proving a tremendous disappointment in his first 18 months with the Nerazzurri.

The player is now ready to leave for good and Inter supporters are unlikely to miss him.
