Hertha Berlin will break their club record fee for a player sale should they send Valentino Lazaro to Inter, according to the Berliner Morgen Post.

Reports in Italy tonight have suggested Lazaro will join the Nerazzurri for €22 million plus add-ons, bringing an end to weeks of negotiations.

Hertha’s previous record was held by John Brooks, who signed for Wolfsburg in a deal worth €18 million in 2017.

Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio are close to securing the Austrian international after receiving an express request from Antonio Conte.

Lazaro scored three goals and created seven assists for Hertha last season, as they secured an 11th-place finish in the Bundesliga.

Conte views the 23-year-old as the ideal player to slot in at right wing-back in his 3-5-2 system, capable of covering the entire flank with impressive stamina.

Inter already came close to signing Lazaro in 2012 but a last-minute change of heart from the midfielder’s mother meant the deal fell through.
